Taste Triumph @ All Day Chicken Lab

Today, I went with my dad to enjoy his favorite chicken dish! We chose a small restaurant that I had been wanting to try for a long time. Recently, it opened a new branch in Mong Kok after its success in North Point, so of course, we had to check it out. This place is the highly-rated All Day Chicken Lab! When we arrived at 7 PM, there were already 8 people in line. Luckily, the turnover was quick, and we only waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. Both my dad and I opted for chicken set meals but chose different parts of the chicken. The set meal includes soy-marinated cucumber, MSG-free soup, fragrant rice, and a drink. The peeled cucumber was incredibly crisp, paired with a light soy sauce flavor that was refreshing and delicious. The MSG-free soup, though lacking any solid ingredients, was rich in coconut and chicken aroma, offering a sweet and flavorful taste. I ordered the Onsen Chicken Thigh Set for $80! The onsen chicken was perfectly tender with smooth skin and juicy meat, making it a satisfying choice. All the chicken pieces were deboned, making it easy to eat. However, both my dad and I felt it lacked a strong chicken flavor. Still, considering the price, the portion was generous and filling. The other set was the Onsen Chicken Set for $63! It included chicken wings, chicken breast, and upper thigh. Both the wings and upper thigh were tender and flavorful, and surprisingly, even the chicken breast was juicy and not dry. If you're not particular about a strong chicken taste, this set is definitely worth it. Each set comes with three sauces! The dark soy sauce was salty, but I would have preferred it slightly sweeter. The vibrant chili sauce had a tangy and spicy kick, making it quite appetizing. The smooth ginger paste was delightful and paired perfectly with the rice. The fragrant rice had a nice chewiness, which might not appeal to those who prefer softer rice. While the aroma didn’t quite win over my dad and me, the rice grains were not overly oily, had a good texture, and came in a generous portion. You can also add extra side dishes to your set meal! We chose the half portion of garlic baby cabbage for an additional $12. The cabbage itself was sweet and flavorful, complemented by the rich garlic seasoning, making it a tasty choice. The set meal includes a drink, and you can choose between canned beverages or, like me, a cup of cold-brewed oolong tea. Initially, I thought it would be bottled cold-brew tea, but it turned out to be served in a cup. It had a subtle tea aroma and was a great option for those who prefer less sweet drinks. Overall, I found the offerings at All Day Chicken Lab to be decent but not particularly surprising. What stood out to me was the service attitude of the staff, which was perfectly balanced—not overly enthusiastic but just right. Despite the close seating arrangement indoors, we felt comfortable and enjoyed our meal.
