#In-depth tour of Hong Kong There is a hidden treasure in Hong Kong - Qingshan Zen Temple. As one of the "three ancient temples", it is also the birthplace of Buddhism in Hong Kong! Qingshan Zen Temple, also known as Qingshan Temple, is located on the hillside of Qingshan in Tuen Mun. It is as famous as Lingdu Temple and Lingyun Temple in Yuen Long. The simple and solemn atmosphere makes people linger. Qingshan Zen Temple has a profound historical heritage, which can be traced back to the Liu Song period of the Southern and Northern Dynasties (420-479). It is said that the eminent monk Beidu Zen Master once lived in seclusion here, and Qingshan is also known as "Beidu Mountain". Unfortunately, the original Buddhist temple was abandoned due to the "sea migration order" in the early Qing Dynasty, which forced coastal residents to move inland. It was not until 1829 that the Tao clan built Qingyun Temple. In the late 1910s, the Qingyun Temple hosted the construction of Qingshan Zen Temple next to the Taoist temple. Qingshan Zen Temple consists of many distinctive buildings. For example, the main hall, which enshrines Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha and Medicine Buddha, and the Dharma Protector Hall, which enshrines Skanda, are decorated with Shiwan ceramics on their roofs; while the mountain gate, guest hall and merit hall are decorated with plaster sculptures, with exquisite workmanship. The buildings of Qingshan Monastery are of great historical value. In 2010, the "Xianghai Mingshan" archway, the main hall, the Bodhisattva Hall, the mountain gate and the Dharma Protector Hall were rated as Grade 1 historic buildings; the "Bu Er Fa Men" archway, dormitory, guest hall, lay Buddhists' hall and Guanyin Pavilion were rated as Grade 2 historic buildings; and the merit hall was rated as Grade 3 historic building.
