Great Value Peking Duck in Tai Kok Tsui

After work on a rainy day, I really didn’t feel like cooking. To my surprise, the usually crowded Lao Zhanggui Northeastern Cuisine restaurant had no line at the door, so I decided to head in for dinner! The dishes were served quickly, and everything arrived in no time! The half Peking duck was meaty, with crispy skin and perfectly chewy wraps. Adding the condiments and a bit of duck sauce made it absolutely delicious! However, the portion was quite large, and we couldn’t finish it all, so we had to pack the leftovers to go. We ordered Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles because we didn’t feel like having rice. The noodles came in a big bowl, and the broth was rich and full of peanut aroma with a hint of spiciness—very flavorful and appetizing! For the Sweet and Sour Squirrel Fish, we chose sole fillet. When it was served, we were amazed by its size—definitely great value for money! The fish was tender, and the sweet and sour sauce was both fragrant and appetizing. It was so photogenic too! We saved room for the Gao Li Red Bean Pastry, and it was truly outstanding. The red bean filling wasn’t overly sweet, and the puff pastry had a delightful texture. Served hot, it was absolutely delicious! At Lao Zhanggui, we ordered three dishes for two people and left with full stomachs. Now I finally understand why there’s always a line outside!
