Vartifoss basalt waterfall, the inspiration for the design of Hallgrimskirkja

Svartifoss is located in Vatnajökull National Park, the second largest national park in Europe. This waterfall has many nicknames, because the water of the waterfall pours down from the basalt like Penghu, it is called the Basalt Falls. Svarti means black and foss means waterfall. It is literally translated as black waterfall. It is also selected as one of the top ten waterfalls in Iceland. There are no toilets next to the waterfall, so you can go to the toilet before leaving. It takes 1 to 2 hours to walk from the parking lot to the top, depending on your walking speed.
