New Zealand tourist attraction—♨️ Hot Water Beach｜Dig a natural hot spring spa by the sea

📍 Location Located on the east coast of Coromandel Peninsula, North Island, New Zealand, about 175 km from Auckland and 12 km from Whitianga, it belongs to the Waikato region. ⸻ 🕒 Best time • Two hours before and after low tide: During this period, the spring water in the sand is closest to the surface, which is very suitable for digging hot spring pools. • If you want to avoid the crowds, it is best to arrive in the early morning or at dusk. ⸻ 📝 Personal experience This is my most special beach experience in New Zealand. You can dig a natural spa pool by yourself, sit in the hot underground spring water, the waves hit the shore, the salt wind blows on your face, and the scene is super healing. The spring water is as high as 60–64°C, which is very hot. It is recommended to dig shallower and slowly add seawater to adjust the temperature(). The beach is also a surfing base, but the tide is strong and there are whirlpools in many places. For safety reasons, you must swim in areas with lifeguard flags (). I like to dig hot springs in the late afternoon and then go down to touch the sea.
