Mount Cervino

Mount Cervino, also known as the Matterhorn, is one of the most iconic and recognizable mountains in the world. Located in the Pennine Alps on the border between Switzerland and Italy, it stands at an elevation of 4,478 meters (14,692 feet). The mountain has a distinctive pyramid shape, making it a popular subject in photography and a famous challenge for climbers.It straddles the border between Switzerland (Canton of Valais) and Italy (Aosta Valley). The first successful ascent was made on July 14, 1865, by a team led by Edward Whymper, but the descent ended tragically with four of the seven climbers falling to their deaths.The two most popular routes for climbers are the Hörnli Ridge (from Switzerland) and the Lion Ridge (from Italy). Zermatt in Switzerland and Breuil-Cervinia in Italy are the two main resort towns near the Matterhorn, offering a variety of outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, and mountaineering.
