Jianmen Pass

Transportation Guide: Take the high-speed train from Chengdu East to Jianmen Pass Station. Once you arrive, quickly transfer to the bus—moving fast is key to securing a seat. It's recommended to ascend the mountain via the cableway at the North Gate and descend through the South Gate, as the path is easier to navigate. However, even the easier route involves a full day of hiking and can be quite exhausting. My itinerary was: North Gate → Cableway No. 1 → Fairy Gallery → Bird Path → Glass Viewing Platform → Liangshan Temple → Grand Cave → Shisun Peak → Guan Tower → South Gate, then take a bus back to the high-speed train station. Jianmen Pass is historically significant as Zhuge Liang constructed the Shu Road during the Three Kingdoms period. The Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai vividly described Jianmen Pass in his poem "The Hard Road to Shu": "Jian Pass stands tall and steep; one man guards the pass, ten thousand cannot break through." Liangshan Temple was once the place where Emperor Wu of Liang, Xiao Yan, renounced his throne and practiced Buddhism.
