Suzhou's Hidden Paradise: A Personal Experience at Dexin Courtyard, Xishan Branch

This time, I visited the Xishan Scenic Area in Suzhou and specifically chose the "Dexin Courtyard" nestled by the shores of Taihu Lake. It did not disappoint! This boutique guesthouse is located halfway up the mountain on Xishan Island. The moment you push open the wooden door, it feels like stepping into a Jiangnan courtyard straight out of an ancient book. **Breathtaking Environment**: The courtyard is surrounded by loquat trees and lush bamboo, with every window framing a picturesque ink painting. Mornings begin with the chirping of birds, and opening the window reveals the vast, misty expanse of Taihu Lake. At sunset, the entire courtyard is bathed in a golden glow, making every photo filter-free. **Heartwarming Service**: The owner personally guided us to taste local specialties, and the recommended "Taihu Three Whites" were incredibly fresh and delightful. The rooms retain the carved wooden windows of traditional Suzhou houses but are equipped with modern facilities. Even the bathrobes and shampoos are of premium brands. I particularly loved their "tea by the stove" experience. Sitting in the rustic hall, sipping Biluochun tea while watching leaves fall in the courtyard, time seemed to slow down. When we left, the owner even prepared handmade plum blossom cakes as farewell gifts. This warm and welcoming guesthouse is definitely a place I’ll return to!
