Travel Notes at the Mountain Retreat: Jiuzhai Rongxiang Hilton Resort

You can experience a 40-minute horseback ride in Zhongzhagou (¥200). Under the blue sky and white clouds, with snow-capped mountains and Tibetan yak villages, it's incredibly relaxing. For dining, we recommend the main branch of Zangyage near Jiuzhaigou, where you can enjoy yak meat hotpot. Their barley cakes and butter tea are also exceptional. Next to the hotel, Rongxiang Town offers many Tibetan restaurants and souvenir shops. If it doesn’t rain in the evening, there’s a bonfire dance party where Tibetan aunties lead everyone in dancing—after one session, all the stress melts away! On the day of check-in, I suddenly needed a computer for work. When I asked the front desk, Frank offered to bring his personal laptop from his dorm after work and lend it to me for free. When I returned it before checking out, he even refused my offer to leave an ID or deposit—such trust is truly heartwarming! The concierge team was also very proactive with luggage assistance, surpassing the service at most luxury city hotels. Amenities include a gym but no pool (likely due to altitude; apart from Hidden House, even the Conrad in Jiuzhaigou doesn’t have one). Breakfast scores an 85, but only dinner buffets are available, making lunch a bit awkward. There’s a 60-square-meter kids' club, adequate for basic needs. The courtyard is great for strolls and connects to the Conrad villa area. Outside the main gate is Jiuzhaigou’s only commercial street, though due to the pandemic, few shops are open. Lunch requires an 800-meter walk.
