A perfect destination for a trip with parents—Jiuzhaigou!

Since my parents happened to have free time in July, they finally agreed to visit Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou after my persistent persuasion! 😂 They usually stay in Fujian, so they rarely get to see highlands, forests 🌲, or snow-capped mountains 🏔️. This time, I chose Jiuzhaigou for two main reasons: first, the altitude is not too high, so we don’t have to worry much about altitude sickness; second, Jiuzhaigou is a well-developed tourist destination with plenty of options, which is important for ensuring comfort, safety, and peace of mind when traveling with parents. 💙 1️⃣ Around 9:20 AM, we arrived at the ticket checkpoint. The queue was long but moved quickly, taking about 10 minutes. We left the scenic area at 5 PM. 2️⃣ We got off at Shuzheng Village and walked to Rhinoceros Lake, which is about a kilometer away. I recommend taking the stairs across the river near the bus stop to walk along the inner boardwalk. Walking along the main road is crowded and less enjoyable. Along the way, we saw Shuzheng Village Waterfall, Tiger Lake, and Rhinoceros Lake—beautiful sights! 3️⃣ At around 11 AM, we took the bus from Rhinoceros Lake to Luorilang for lunch. It wasn’t crowded, and we managed to find seats. After lunch, it got much busier, and finding a place to rest was nearly impossible. We ordered a drink at Dicos and rested inside, even taking a nap. We regretted not bringing an inflatable neck pillow. 4️⃣ At about 1:30 PM, after a good rest, we continued by bus toward the primeval forest. Along the way, we saw Mirror Lake, which was stunning! However, we decided to get off at Five Flower Lake and skip the higher-altitude spots. We walked halfway around Five Flower Lake on the inner boardwalk, stopping to rest whenever we found seating or quiet staircases away from the main path. Bringing a lightweight folding stool is also a good idea. I enjoyed this relaxed pace—it was chill, just missing a cup of coffee. So don’t worry about finding places to rest. 5️⃣ After Five Flower Lake, we walked about a kilometer to Pearl Shoal and Pearl Shoal Waterfall. My grandmother, a fan of the TV series "Journey to the West," was thrilled to see this spot. The path includes some short uphill stairs and long downhill ones, but my grandmother said the steps were gentle and not tiring. 6️⃣ After visiting Pearl Shoal, we continued another kilometer to Mirror Lake to catch the bus back to the scenic area’s exit. This inner boardwalk was easy to walk, mostly flat, shaded by towering trees, and accompanied by the sound of rushing water. The temperature was perfect, and the air was fresh—walking here was truly enjoyable. Finally, we took the bus directly to the exit. Honestly, just picking a few lakes to visit is enough; after a while, the scenery can feel repetitive. My parents were very satisfied with today’s itinerary! 7️⃣ By the way, the altitude here is low, so there’s no altitude sickness or motion sickness. —————————————————————— We thoroughly enjoyed this trip, telling everyone how relaxed and happy we felt. Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area is truly worth visiting!
