Early Summer Wandering in Kamakura – Flowers, Temples & Garden Lunches

It’s the kind of place where you can spend an entire day walking slowly, taking in beauty with every step. My first stop was Hasedera Temple, known for its seasonal flowers. Right now, the Brunfelsia (Nioi Banmatsuri) is blooming in the circular garden path—it smells amazing and looks even better up close. Of course, no visit to Kamakura is complete without seeing the Great Buddha. Calm, majestic, and iconic—it never fails to impress. Later, I visited Jomyo-ji Temple, which felt like a quiet retreat from the world. Behind the temple, there’s a hidden gem: Ishigama Garden Terrace. I had the Garden Plate lunch on the terrace of a Western-style house, surrounded by flowers. Peaceful, fragrant, and delicious. The weather was perfect all day, making this little trip even more memorable.
