[Kawayu Onsen, Hokkaido] Mt. Iou and the famous soft serve ice cream!

Famous for its highly acidic hot springs, Mt. Iou was mined for sulfur from the Meiji to Showa eras. People gathered at Mt. Iou to mine the sulfur, and a railway line was laid for transportation, which led to the current Senmo Main Line and the town of Teshikaga. Although sulfur is no longer mined, the town of Kawayu Onsen has been transformed into a hot spring resort. This is a place where you can feel the beginnings of the town. The shop sells the famous Mt. Iou soft serve ice cream, which I tried hesitantly, but was very surprised to find that it tasted like custard pudding when mixed well.
