Review of Wat Phra Yai

• Located on Koh Fan, which is connected to Koh Samui by a traditional dirt road that has now become a convenient asphalt road.  • Built in 1972, it houses the golden Phra Phuttha Pang Mara Vijaya, approximately 12 meters (39 feet) high. Real temples & tourist attractions – It is a religious place that tourists and locals like to come to worship, give alms, and have activities on important religious days.  ⸻ 🗺️ How to get there & Opening-Closing times • Located 3 km north of Samui Airport and 3 km from Bo Phut Beach.  • Take the main route 4169 → Turn into 4171 and go straight to Koh Fan.  • It takes about 72 steps to walk up before reaching the Buddha statue. () • Open daily: Generally around 06:00–18:00 or 08:00–18:00, depending on the tourist website.  ⸻ 🎯 Tips & Tricks • Early morning is the best time: 06:00–08:00 is suitable for watching the monks' alms-giving ceremony and taking pictures of the peaceful atmosphere. () • Dress appropriately: No sleeveless shirts or high-waisted shorts — the temple provides sarongs for borrowing if needed () • Avoid crowds: During the day and festivals, it can be crowded.
