View that you wont miss in SAMUI

#kohsamuiisland This may be the review you are looking for. First of all, many of the pictures people are posting aren't for this viewpoint. There are several viewpoints scattered along this range and the place where this Google pin is actually an abandoned lookout, but one of the best views. I read a lot of fear-mongering reviews that mention that you might die if you aren't a good scooter rider, and then others saying it's no problem. There's even one guy who posted a screenshot of the exact route I took, 3 weeks before this review, and he said a river has washed it out and you can't take this route. That is totally not true. Maybe he was high or made a wrong turn, but I didn't see anything like that. The fact is that it is paved (although in dire need of resurfacing} all the way up except for some sections that are dirt, but even the dirt is mostly hard packed from hundreds of other bikes. I went through 2 maybe 3 small sections of loose dirt, and they're aren't on turns, so you go straight and you're fine. If I have to explain to you that you use your back brake way more than your front, maybe don't do this trip. I made it up on my beat up 200 baht old Honda Click 125cc rental scooter with 2 bars of fuel and had no problem at all. There are locals that live along this road and they ride scooters that are made out of toothpicks with their whole family riding on it passing me uphill. Yes, there are some ruts, but they are avoidable. If you aren't sure you can drive in a straight line then this might not be the road for you. Just practice driving along a painted line in the road and as long as you stay within a foot or so on each side, you should be fine. I'm glad I didn't give in to fear as it was a great ride and an actual adventure, something that isn't totally easy to find on an island known for relaxing. It is a worthwhile challenge and you can do it. If you are new to two wheeled vehicles, don't do it. If it's pouring down rain then yeah, skip it. And if somehow you do crash or die or something, I take no responsibility this is just my experience. #travel
