Giant Catfish Farm: A Peaceful Hidden Spot in Krabi

Looking for something unique and off the tourist trail in Krabi? Visit the Giant Catfish Farm, a quiet and family-friendly attraction just outside Ao Nang. Nestled in a lush, tropical setting, this small farm offers a relaxing break from the beaches and a closer look at rural Thai life. What to Expect The main highlight is the pond filled with massive Mekong catfish. You can feed them with pellets or bread — watching them surface is both fun and impressive. Kids especially love seeing the giant fish splash around. And of course the star of this place is the Arapaima is a species of arapaima native to the basin of the Amazon River. The species is among the largest known freshwater fish. But this isn’t just about fish. The owner is a real artist. The entrance looks like a stylish Thai reggae bar with lots of authentic stuff and paintings. The farm also has a shaded garden, small enclosures with birds and rabbits, and a peaceful path lined with tropical plants and flowers. Amazing place worth visiting. Why Visit? Relaxing atmosphere: Quiet, green, and uncrowded — perfect for a slow morning or afternoon. Family-friendly: Safe and engaging for young children. Local experience: A chance to see how locals care for the land and animals. Photo spots: Small wooden bridges, lotus ponds, and quirky signs offer charming photo ops. How to Get There The farm is located about 10–15 minutes by car or scooter from Ao Nang. It’s best to visit with your own transport or by booking a local tour that includes it as a stop. Some tours combine the farm with nearby hot springs or temples. Travel Tips Entry fee: The visit costs 50 baht, you are given food for the fish, which you can feed in several places. Time to visit: Mornings are cooler and quieter. Not wheelchair accessible: Pathways are natural and uneven. You might want to visit Natin Spicy Garden after the Giant Catfish Farm. It's worth visiting for people interested in plants. The entrance to the garden is free. The Giant Catfish Farm may not be on every traveler’s list, but it’s a refreshing stop if you’re looking for something low-key and authentic in Krabi. Come for the fish, stay for the calm. #krabi #tripmoments #aonang #aonangbeach #arapaima #familytrip #catfish

A Must Visit Thai Beach!

Ao Nang Beach

"Doesn't run in packs. She's often alone. Keeps her circle small. Knows her power and works in silence."  "As the salty air gets through my hair and smacks on my thirsty skin, I breathe."  The cheapest way to get to Ao Nang Beach from Krabi Aiport is through Song Thaew. Song Thaew is Thailand's one public transportation. From International or Domestic Arrival Hall, you need to get outside of the airport and walk to the main highway (approximately 10 minutes walk). I was sweating like a pig that time since I arrived in Krabi at past half 8 in the morning. I've waited like 10 to minutes before a Songthaew going to Ao Nang beach passed by. Since this was my first time in Krabi I'm not familiar with the place (literally). Through the help of the locals and Google Map, I arrived in iRest Seafront safe. I paid 50 baht for the entire trip and the travel time was 45 minutes with minimal stops. You may also consider a shared van transfer from Krabi International Airport to your hotel directly. Transfer per passenger is 150.00 baht whilst private car transfer starts at 500.00 baht for 3-4 passengers. WHERE TO STAY IN KRABI I usually look at my accommodation depends on my budget and how long I'll be staying. I stayed in iRest Seafront and I booked my bunk bed for 380.00 baht per night. Later on, I found out that I booked a simple, clean, and literally walking distance to Ao Nang Beach. I highly recommend iRest Seafront not just because they offer budget-friendly accommodation but also their staffs are friendly.  #krabi #aonang #thailand #seasidephotoguide#naturalwonders#bestislandtraveltowns#beautifulsunsets
