Exploring Kuala Lumpur's National Mosque & Islamic Arts Museum! 🕌✨

#summervacay After our visit to Batu Caves, on the way back to KL Sentral by train, we passed by the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station. This area is conveniently located near two significant cultural sites worth visiting! Kuala Lumpur Railway Station Area Old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station: As you exit the station, you'll be greeted by the impressive, rather grand building directly opposite. It has a distinctly municipal hall-like appearance. While you likely can't go inside, its exterior is quite photogenic and worth capturing! National Mosque of Malaysia (Masjid Negara) National Mosque (Masjid Negara): This mosque is a truly prominent landmark in Kuala Lumpur, fitting for a nation where the majority of citizens are Muslim. Dress Code: If you're a non-Muslim woman, you'll need to wear a purple robe that covers your hair and ears. For men wearing shorts or sleeveless tops, you'll also be required to put on a robe. I did my research beforehand, so I wore long pants and a short-sleeved shirt, which meant I didn't need a robe. Remember to take off your shoes before entering! Photography & Views: The interior is quite photogenic! The white and blue mosaic decorations are absolutely beautiful. From certain vantage points inside, you can also catch glimpses of the National Monument at Merdeka Square and, in the distance, the iconic Exchange 106, which is among Asia's tallest buildings. Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (Optional, but highly recommended!) While not explicitly detailed in your notes, the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia is located very close to the National Mosque and is an absolute must-visit if you're in the area. It houses a stunning collection of Islamic art from across the globe, including textiles, ceramics, jewelry, and architecture models. It's a fantastic place to learn more about Islamic culture and aesthetics. #kualalumpur #kl #malaysia #nationalmosque #masjidnegara #islamicartsmuseum #kltrip #travelmalaysia #klattractions #culturalsites #mosque #traveltips 🇲🇾
