At its peak, it is said that there were 21 locomotives. When the railway was converted to diesel, the locomotives were abolished and the engine shed also ceased its role. It is the only remaining roundhouse engine shed in Kyushu. The engine shed and the turntable are also registered tangible cultural properties of the country and are modern industrial heritage sites. During the war, bullet holes remain on the exterior wall, which was machine-gunned by US fighter planes, and even our generation, who do not know the war, was able to learn about the tragic situation.
