During this visit to Osaka, I made sure to take some time to explore the nearby Arashiyama, and I was instantly captivated by this lush, serene Japanese-style paradise! Riding the Sagano Scenic Railway through the bamboo forest tunnel was a magical experience. The swaying green bamboo outside the train window, combined with sunlight creating a play of shadows, felt like stepping into a scene from a Studio Ghibli animation. Strolling along the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge, the crystal-clear waters of the Hozugawa River beautifully complemented the distant mountains. The aroma of matcha desserts wafting from riverside tea houses was irresistible, prompting me to stop and savor freshly made Arashiyama mochi. I highly recommend taking a Hozugawa River boat ride to experience the thrill of rushing waters. The boatmen often sing folk songs spontaneously, adding a delightful touch to the journey. Another must-visit spot in Arashiyama is the Monkey Park! Dozens of adorable Japanese macaques play freely in their natural habitat—some mischievously snatching food, others leisurely grooming each other. Observing their behavior up close is incredibly entertaining. As evening approaches, the entire mountain area is bathed in the warm glow of the sunset, creating a tranquil and healing atmosphere that makes you forget the hustle and bustle of the city. If you're looking to escape the lively streets of Osaka for a while, Arashiyama is undoubtedly the perfect destination to relax and rejuvenate!
