Chengnan Palace

#KyotoTourism Visited on November 6, 2022 to prepare for the Kamakura Shogunate In May 1221, Emperor Gotoba gathered samurai from the western region and ordered the pursuit of Hojo Yoshitoki, promising to hold a yabusame ceremony here at Jonangu Shrine. This marked the beginning of the Jokyu War. At this time, the shrine was bustling with families celebrating Shichigosan, but the garden was deserted. In Kyoto, where tourism has revived, this place has maintained its tranquility. However, the plantings, which are calculated to bloom throughout the year, combined with the beautiful blue sky, allowed me to enjoy the garden at my leisure. Trees and flowers related to the Tale of Genji are planted in the garden, along with explanations. Those who are familiar with the Tale of Genji may enjoy it even more.
