Exploring Switzerland's Chapel Bridge

Kapellbrücke, or Chapel Bridge, spans the Reuss River and is a landmark of Switzerland as well as a must-visit attraction in Lucerne. The bridge features a brown wooden structure with a red roof, making it one of the oldest covered wooden bridges in Europe. The bridge is named "Chapel Bridge" because of the St. Peter's Church located on its northern bank. Built in 1333, the bridge was originally constructed for Lucerne's defense purposes. Chapel Bridge is the second longest covered bridge in Europe and the oldest surviving wooden bridge on the continent. It retains its medieval architectural style, with colorful paintings adorning its beams. The beautifully decorated bridge attracts countless visitors year-round. On the way to the guesthouse, we avoided the highway to enjoy the scenic views of Lake Lungern. We also visited Lake Brienz to see the pier featured in the Korean drama "Crash Landing on You." ("Pier Crash Landing on You").
