Tham Phra Temple

Wat Tham Phra (Wat Tham Ngao) in Mae Sariang District is an ancient temple with outstanding features such as Lanna art, beautiful scenery, and a peaceful atmosphere suitable for both merit-making and nature lovers. ⸻ 🕍 History & Importance • It was originally an ancient Tham Phra monastery or Tham Ngao by Phra Ajarn Charan Aphichato, a disciple of the forest monks from Wat Tham Pha Plong, who came to practice meditation in 1998 and later received permission to establish it as a temple in 2010.  • The temple is currently constructing a Lanna-style ordination hall, where you can go up to pay homage to the principal Buddha image during construction.  ⸻ 🎨 Art & Architecture • There are beautiful Lanna-style murals and Buddha images in the cave, clearly visible in the teak ordination hall building, which stands out in the middle of the valley. • Inside the cave, there are carved Buddha images enshrined in the crevices of the rocks, creating a peaceful and shady atmosphere. It is also a place to make wishes according to the beliefs of the spiritual line. ⸻ 🌄 View & Atmosphere • The temple is located on a hill. Along the way up, there are beautiful stairs, similar to Doi Suthep Temple, but not crowded. • Standing at the viewpoint, you can see a wide view of Mae Sariang City from a high angle.
