According to legend, there was a great monk who traveled to preach and teach Buddhists to proclaim Buddhism until he arrived at this place until dawn in the year 201. He asked an old man who was practicing Dhamma and guarding this pagoda to scoop up water from the Suai River to wash his face and stayed there for 7 days before continuing his journey. He gave the relics to the old man to enshrine in the pagoda until he was successful and continued his journey. He also predicted that in the future, the villagers would call this place “Phra That Chom Chaeng” and the Suai River would be changed to “Suay River”.
