The old Medresesi

Kasimiye Medresesi is one of the oldest building in Mardin, Turkey. I was surprised about this place, because it was completed in 1502 and considering its age, is in remarkable condition. I recommend you to visit this elegant, beautiful and peaceful place when you go to Mardin. This building, which is one of the best engineering and architectural masterpiece of that period, was used as an university, as well as a lighthouse for the caravans traveling on the Silk Road. The lanterns were burned on the roof of the building so that the caravans could find their way at night. The area is not that big, you can just spend around 30 mins to one hour to walk around plus enjoying the view of the landscape outside ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒค๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿƒ #roadtrip #urbanexplorer #summervacation #historicculture #exploreturkey #summervacation#hikingtrails
