Kawagebo means "God of Snow Mountains" in Tibetan. It is regarded by Tibetans as the residence of the guardian god and is not allowed to be invaded by humans. The charm of Meili Snow Mountain lies in its holiness and mystery. It has 13 peaks, known as the Thirteen Peaks of Prince, each with its own legends and stories. To tour the Meili Snow Mountain, you can start from Feilai Temple on the Yunnan-Tibet Highway. It is the best place to see the panoramic view of the Meili Snow Mountain and the golden mountain in the sun. It is also the place to burn incense to Kawagebo. Along the way, you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Jinsha River, Lancang River, and Nujiang River flowing together, as well as cultural landscapes such as Dongzhulin Temple, Benzilan, and Cizhong Church. If you want to get close to the sacred mountain, you can take a bus from Feilai Temple to Mingyong Glacier, which is the largest valley glacier in Yunnan with the lowest terminal altitude, and you can see the majestic appearance of Kawagebo. Alternatively, you can hike or ride a horse from Feilai Temple to Yubeng Village, a paradise hidden in the valley with magical waterfalls, icy lakes, base camps and other attractions, where you can feel the call of Kawagebo.
