💡 Monaco on a Budget — Yes, It’s Possible

Monaco has a reputation for luxury - superyachts, casinos, and fancy cars at every turn. But if you’re just curious to see the city and not planning to splurge, one day is more than enough to explore it without spending a fortune. Here’s how I did Monaco on a budget - and actually had a great time: 💤 1. Don’t sleep in Monaco. Accommodation in Monaco is expensive, but luckily, it’s very easy to get there by train from nearby cities. You can stay in: 📍Nice — frequent trains, lots of options, great for budget travelers 📍Cannes — a bit more glamorous, but still more affordable than Monaco 📍Antibes — a beautiful town between Nice and Cannes, with lovely beaches and better prices Morning trains from all these places run regularly and take around 20–50 minutes. 🥪 2. Eat on the French side The border between Monaco and France is almost invisible - in some places, crossing the street takes you from one country to the other. And often, prices change drastically. Restaurants and cafés on the French side (for example, in Beausoleil) are usually much more budget-friendly. If you’re hungry, it’s worth walking just a few minutes out of central Monaco. 🎒 3. Ask where to leave your bags At the exit of Monaco’s train station, you’ll find a tourist information point. They can tell you where to leave your luggage - we were given a few nearby cafés (on the French side) that offer bag storage for around €6 per day. It was easy and safe. 📶 4. Internet might not work — plan ahead Monaco is not part of the European Union, so many EU roaming SIM cards stop working the moment you cross the border. That’s exactly what happened to me - I arrived at the train station and suddenly had no signal, no internet, and no idea where to go. To avoid this, you can: – Get a 1-day eSIM (there are several apps that offer this) – Or just make sure to download offline maps in advance – Many places in Monaco have free Wi-Fi, but it’s best to be prepared before you arrive #europetrip
