A Local Day in Nagasaki – Scenic Strolls, Soulful Moments & a Very Good Plate of Food

#cityplaybook Nagasaki is a city full of quiet charm and deep history—where the ocean meets the hills, and every stop tells a story. From local food to panoramic views, there’s a calm beauty here that stays with you. I started my walk at Dejima Wharf, where sailboats sway gently and the sea breeze feels just right. I had lunch at Dejima Terrace, where I finally tried the local favorite: Turkish Rice. A wild mix of butter rice, Neapolitan spaghetti, pork cutlet, and salad—all on one plate, and all surprisingly good. In the afternoon, I headed up to Mt. Inasa. Even during the day, the 360° view over Nagasaki is breathtaking—you can even spot Battleship Island far out on the sea. It’s no surprise this view is ranked among the world’s new top three nightscapes. To end the day, I spent some quiet time at the Peace Park, Peace Statue, and Urakami Cathedral. Each site is moving in its own way, and walking through them gently reminds you of the strength in remembrance. Why I recommend Nagasaki: ・It’s a city that balances history, reflection, and natural beauty all in one stroll ・You’ll find meaningful moments—and delicious surprises—around every corner 📍Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan #nagasaki #dejimawharf #turkishrice #mtinasaview #peacepark #urakamicathedral #localjapan #scenicwalks #slowtravel #cityguide

Arriving in Fukuoka at dusk, the lights were like stars falling on the earth, and the city slowly woke up in the night. Strolling to the Nakasu street, the steam was steaming, reflecting the warm lights; the dialect voices of the stall owners scooping soup were one after another, like intimate whispers. A bowl of rich Hakata pork bone ramen went down my throat, as if holding the warmth and fireworks of the whole city in my palm. The next morning, I visited Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. The vermilion torii stood solemnly, the ancient plums on both sides of the stone path quietly exhaled fragrance, and the shadows of the trees were swaying, and the quietness spread. Touching the back of the thousand-year-old stone beast, the fingertips touched not only the slight coolness, but also the heavy precipitation of years. Before leaving, I climbed the stairs and took a bite of the warm plum cake. The sweet and delicate bean paste melted on the tip of my tongue, as if holding the gentle soul of Fukuoka. Outside the window of the plane on the way back, the colorful city lights in the twilight gradually shrank into a flowing sea of light. Fukuoka, this land, has quietly painted a vivid Ukiyo-e in my heart - the bustle of the city and the quietness of the shrine are intertwined, like floating light and shadow, silently soaking every line of memory. "," "rich Hakata pork bone ramen," "vermilion torii," "quiet meaning" and other concrete descriptions, as well as the metaphor of "Ukiyo-e", vividly convey the unique style of Fukuoka.
