[The contrast with the cherry blossoms is amazing★] Nagoya Castle

It is a 5-minute walk from Exit 7 of the Meijo Line "Nagoya Castle". This castle is famous for its golden shachihoko (golden shachihoko). It was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1615. With a huge castle tower and Honmaru Palace, it was the base of control for the Owari Tokugawa family, which had a fief of about 620,000 koku. The castle tower and Honmaru Palace were burned down in an air raid in 1945, and the castle tower and main gate were rebuilt in 1959. The three corner towers and three gates (all important cultural properties) that escaped the fire, and the stone walls are almost intact. Restoration work on the Honmaru Palace began in 2009, and after about 10 years of construction, it was completed and opened to the public on June 8, 2018. It was raining that day, but the cherry blossoms were in full bloom and I was able to take some beautiful photos. #Sakura2024 #NagoyaCastle
