Nagoya, a trip to central Japan full of small pleasures

#July Travel Support Fund Nagoya is a big city, but it doesn't have many tourists, so it was a quiet and leisurely place to travel. Tradition and modernity coexist, and delicious food and things to see are mixed appropriately, so it was a fulfilling trip. First, I visited Nagoya Castle. The magnificent castle with its shining golden shachihoko caught my eye from afar, and the exhibition inside was interesting in terms of the history and culture of Nagoya during the Edo period. The garden around the castle was quiet and well-maintained, so it was nice to take a leisurely walk. After that, I visited Osu Kannon Temple and Osu Shopping Street. The temple was small, but it had a cozy atmosphere, and the shopping street had a variety of traditional items and street food, so it was fun to look around. The misokatsu and bite-sized tenmusu I tasted here allowed me to experience the rich flavor of Nagoya. I also didn't forget to eat hitsumabushi, which is a must-eat in Nagoya. The three ways to enjoy the crispy grilled eel, eating it as is, eating it with green onions and wasabi, and finally pouring warm broth and enjoying it in ochazuke style were really special. On the second day, I visited the Nagoya City Science Museum. The world's largest planetarium was overwhelming, and there were many hands-on exhibits, so it was a place that both adults and children could enjoy. In the evening, I moved to the Sakae area and enjoyed the night view of the Nagoya TV Tower and Oasis 21. The calm city during the day transformed into a splendid city with lights at night, showing off another charm. Nagoya was a city that was not crowded, but had both tradition and modernity, gourmet food and culture.
