Temple No. 82, Wat Mai Chumphon, Nakhon Luang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

Wat Mai Chumphon, or as the locals call it, Wat Mai, was built around 2153–2171 B.E. According to the story, the temple was built during the reign of King Songtham when he went to pay homage to the Buddha's footprint in Saraburi. At that time, he had to travel by boat, using the Chao Phraya River, passing through the Pa Sak River, and had to stop overnight along the way. Therefore, he ordered his courtiers to survey the location of the palace to rest. After surveying the location, the courtiers saw that the area where the current capital was located was a suitable place to build a palace, so he ordered the completion of the palace. He then ordered the residence to be changed to a temple and named it "Wat Mai Prachumphon". This temple was renovated in 2436 B.E., during the reign of King Rama V, and was announced as a registered temple in the Royal Gazette, Volume 115, Special Issue 37, on May 19, 1998. #Mongpapai #Murals #Visiting historical sites #Secret coordinates #North-Isan team
