Guofeng Town ~ Cai's Ancient Residence Building Complex

The Cai Family Ancient Residential Building Complex is located in Zhangli Village, Guanqiao, Nan'an City, Fujian Province. It was built by Filipino Chinese Cai Qian and was completed from the fifth year of Emperor Xianfeng's reign to the thirty-third year of Emperor Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty. The Cai Family Ancient Residence has five bays, three courtyards and left and right guard houses, with more than 400 rooms of various sizes. Most of the buildings are now well preserved, some are undergoing repairs, and there are relatively few indigenous residents. The Cai family ancient residential complex faces south and each house has two or three courtyards. The main building has a hard mountain and a curved roof, covered with red tiles and tubular tiles, a dovetail ridge, a through-beam wooden frame, and carved beams and painted buildings. The materials used are huge (large pieces of stone are used to pave the ground), and a large number of fine stone carvings, brick carvings, wood carvings, and clay sculptures are preserved. The stone blocks on the porch and the partitions in the hall also preserve many interesting calligraphy and painting works. There is no charge yet, but it will probably be charged soon.
