Toyama's World Heritage Sites Gokayama, Little Kyoto Johana, and Tonami~!

#Travel itinerary I am revisiting Johana in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, which was introduced on the Japanese Sokyoto site. About 7 years ago, I took the World Heritage Bus to visit the Gokayama Gassho-zukuri World Heritage Site and just passed by Johana. This time, I took the same bus at the same place and got off at Johana. I had a JR Pass, but since the train schedule was different, I had to eat breakfast in Kanazawa and took the bus. There are two main types of Sokyoto. First, there are Jokamachi (castle town) and 武家屋敷通り (samurais' street) where there was a large castle in the town. Next, there are cases where large temples and commercial facilities are densely packed together. Johana belongs to the latter. There are temples and pagodas all over the town, and the shopping streets are preserved. It is located in a place surrounded by mountains and rivers with a similar topography to Kyoto. Since it is far from the sea, you can't feel the seafood or fishing village scenery at all. The town is not that big, so I was able to see most of the famous spots in about an hour and a half. It is a World Heritage site adjacent to Shirakawago and Gokayama that I visited before. It was a lucky moment because it was faster than expected and I was able to additionally visit the tulip city of Tonami between Takaoka and Johana. Tonami seemed like a place that would be quite interesting for flower lovers to visit during the tulip season. It was a city along the JR line with Aeon Mall, Don Quixote, and Michi-no-Eki, as befitting a bed town. The rain stopped in the morning on the day I visited and the weather cleared up, so it was very hot, but since it was a mountain village, the sunlight was less harsh and the wind blew gently, so I was able to walk around comfortably.
