Lunar New Year Festivities in Vietnam!

In Vietnam, Lunar New Year is called Tet and it is a huge holiday! The holiday is almost two weeks I believe. I got the incredible chance to watch the performances they put on in Nha Trang square to celebrate the New Year. The group performed martial arts, the dragon dance and the lion dance (on the ground and on the stilts)! I had never seen the lion dance on stilts in person, only in videos, so I was really excited. I waited for about an hour before the performance started just to get a good view. I was in awe as they did some crazy acts like climbing up the pole and jumping on these stilts as a pair. They did fall off a few times, but that didn’t dampen the audience’s spirit as we all knew we wouldn’t even be able to land even one jump with this costume over our heads and in unison with another person at that. It was still incredible, and I really enjoyed it. There are also lots of colorful flowers and festive decorations throughout town with which people takes lots of photos, so it’s very lively and bustling during this time.
