Dream of Tibet 10 ——Viewing at Sejila Pass On August 6, 2024, we set off from Lulang and headed to the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon. We detoured to the Sejila Pass Observation Deck and overlooked the majestic beauty of Mount Namjagbarwa. Sejila Mountain is one of the four sacred mountains in Tibet. It is the dividing line between the eastern and central-western parts of Nyingchi County, Tibet, and the watershed between the Niyang River Basin and the Parlung Tsangpo River. The southern line of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway passes through here. The most special thing about Sejila Mountain is that people come here not to climb the mountain, but to view the scenery at Sejila Pass (4,921 meters) because the scenery here is unique. The biggest attraction of the Sejila Mountain Observation Deck is that you can overlook "China's most beautiful mountain, Nanga Parbatwa". Namjagbarwa is a holy place of the oldest Buddhist Bon religion in Tibet and is known as the "Father of All Mountains in Tibet". As the peak of Namjagbarwa is covered with snow all year round and shrouded in clouds and mist, it never reveals its true face easily and it is very difficult to see its true appearance. There is a saying that "nine out of ten people have never seen it", so it is also called the "Shy Girl Peak". Many people regard seeing Namjagbarwa as a symbol of luck, and some people even travel thousands of miles just to see Namjagbarwa from afar at the Sejila Pass. It was already 9:30 when we arrived at the Sejila Pass Observation Deck. It was cloudy, windy and quite cold. There were a lot of vehicles on the observation deck, with group tours and self-driving tours mixed together, bustling with people coming and going. Because Sejila Pass is located on National Highway 318, it has long been a popular check-in spot, so various photo spots have emerged on the observation deck, with a variety of musical instruments and singing, and it is very lively. There are several Tibetan compatriots singing and dancing, soliciting tourists to take photos together (there is a charge for this), and there are also white yaks dressed up beautifully, waiting to take photos with tourists. The shape of the bull's head symbolizes good luck and fortune. The bull's head bell on the observation deck is used to pray for peace and good luck. The eye-catching 7782 next to the Ox-Head Bell means ringing the Ox-Head Bell to pray for blessings from the mountain god on Mount Namjagbarwa. There were a lot of clouds in the sky, and Mount Namjagbarwa was half-hidden. We waited for a long time but still couldn't see its majestic beauty. Benri La Mountain, located next to Daze Village on the west slope of Seji La Mountain, is a holy place of Tibetan Bon religion. People come here to circumambulate the mountain and worship all year round. Believers come from all directions, and the mountain is hung with prayer flags. As we climbed up the hill, we could hear the prayer flags rustling in the wind, as if they were constantly reciting scriptures to the sacred mountain. The tour guide also prepared prayer flags for our team in advance. Each family wrote down their wishes and signed their names.
