Okayama Korakuen has long been known as one of Japan's three great gardens and was rated a three-star historical and cultural site by the Michelin Japan Green Guide. The park has different beautiful scenery throughout the year and it can be said that it lives up to its reputation. A visit to the gardens is a chance to immerse yourself in the past, when nobles once strolled through the meticulously carved gardens, sipped tea in traditional Japanese teahouses, and lingered beside ponds filled with Japanese carp. Among the many attractions in Korakuen, one of the main ones is the observation deck on Mount Weishin. This place faces Okayama Castle on the other side of the Asahi River, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the largest pond, Zechi. It is also an excellent photo spot and a good place to go during the Dragon Boat Festival.
