Ordos Museum is located at the edge of the central square in Kangbashi New District. It is a national first-class museum and one of the seven major cultural buildings in Ordos. The exterior of the museum is unique and eye-catching. The tall main building looks like a huge rock, and also like a stone from outer space. The bronze-colored building represents the long history of bronze civilization, and the tall and rounded shape symbolizes the Mongolian yurt, which is a feature of the ethnic culture. The basic exhibition of the museum is "The Yellow River Flows from the Grassland". Hall 1: "The Yellow River Flows from the Grassland - Ordos Historical and Cultural Exhibition" (Song-Yuan to Ming-Qing period), Hall 2: "Ordos Paleontology Exhibition", Hall 3: "The Yellow River Flows from the Grassland - Ordos Historical and Cultural Exhibition" (Qin-Han to Sui-Tang period), Hall 5: "The Yellow River Flows from the Grassland - Ordos Historical and Cultural Exhibition" (Prehistoric to Xia-Shang-Zhou period). Other exhibitions include Hall 7's "A Century of Light and Shadow - Witnessing the Memory of Ordos City Collection Exhibition" (currently closed), and Hall 4's "Ordos Paleontology Exhibition". Ordos is located at the junction of the Central Plains and the Northeast Asian grasslands. The collision of farming culture and grassland culture has produced a unique civilization. The Ordos Museum has a rich collection of cultural relics. The treasures of the museum include the Warring States Period eagle-shaped gold crown, gem-inlaid gold crown, Northern Wei gilded bronze statue of Shakyamuni, painted wooden coffin from the Liao tomb of Tuerji Mountain, golden mask of the prince consort of the Chen Kingdom, and the Yuan Dynasty Jun kiln small incense burner made by Song himself. The most famous bronzes, with obvious characteristics of the Xiongnu and other ethnic minorities, led to the establishment of a separate Ordos Bronze Museum, resulting in fewer bronzes and a lack of fine pieces in the Ordos Museum. The museum is located at the edge of Sun Square in the center of Kangbashi City. Surrounding it are government agencies and cultural institutions such as the municipal government, library, and cultural center. There are multiple squares, including Genghis Khan Square, Mongolian Chess Square, Wedding Square, Grassland Style Square, and Ulan Mulun Riverside Square, which are leisure and entertainment places. The night light show is particularly impressive.
