Wat Tha Luang, Phichit Province

Wat Tha Luang is another temple in Phichit Province, located on the west bank of the Nan River in Tambon Nai Mueang, Amphoe Mueang Phichit. This temple was built around 1845 during the reign of King Nangklao. It is very old, more than a hundred years old. It is also home to Luang Pho Phet, a Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, Chiang Saen style, which is more than 800 years old. In addition, Wat Tha Luang also has an important tradition, which is the traditional long-boat race. In the past, it was held in early September on the 6th waning day of the 10th lunar month and was held for only one day. However, later, the event was extended to include more days.
