Chaiwatthanaram Temple

"Wat Chaiwatthanaram" The Royal Temple of Ayutthaya Wat Chaiwatthanaram is an ancient temple in the late Ayutthaya period in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. It is located in Ban Pom Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, on the bank of the Chao Phraya River on the west side outside the city island. Things of interest in Wat Chaiwatthanaram The main prang is located in the middle of the area. The circumambulation base is raised from the ground. It is a four-sided prang. In the eastern part of the prang, there is a pier leading to the chedi chamber. Inside is a seated Buddha image (now missing). The top of the prang is made of seven layers of overlapping belts. Each layer is decorated with jackfruit leaves and jackfruit petals. The top is in the shape of a lotus bud. This type of prang is similar to the prang in the early Ayutthaya period. Wat Chaiwatthanaram was built in the middle Ayutthaya period. Therefore, it can be said that it is a reconstruction of the prang that was popular in the early Ayutthaya period. #thailand
