Wat Mahathat is loca

Wat Mahathat is located in the city of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Its highlight is the more than 100-year-old Buddha head in the roots of a tree. This Buddha head is made of sandstone, with only the head remaining. The body of the Buddha is missing. It is an Ayutthaya style Buddha head, placed in the roots of a Bodhi tree next to the temple. It is believed that the head of the Buddha fell to the base of a tree during the fall of Ayutthaya, and the roots covered it, making it uniquely beautiful and a wonder. This has made this temple famous and well-known among both Thais and foreigners.
