Wat Sri Chum, an old temple in the old city of Phrae

Wat Sri Chum is the oldest temple in Phrae Province. It was built in 1322, and is a thousand years old. It predates the establishment of Phrae City. In the past, Wat Sri Chum was a very beautiful temple with a pagoda covered in gold. Later, the Burmese army invaded the Lanna Kingdom and invaded Phrae City. They burned the temple and took the gold from the pagoda. As a result of the invasion of Phrae City, Wat Sri Chum became a deserted temple. Inside the temple of Wat Sri Chum is the enshrined Buddha statue. The locals call it "Phra Chao Yuan".
