Just got back from Fuzhou, time to tell the honest truth

I just finished my trip to Fuzhou and I’m here to share all the bittersweet experiences with you!! 🤣 Before I left, I imagined leisurely walks by the sea and indulging in amazing food, but the whole trip was full of surprises and some disappointments!! Today, I’m spilling all the real experiences for you👇🏻 If you’re planning to visit Fuzhou, quickly save this "Pitfall Avoidance Guide"! 🌧️ Weather: The unpredictable "Master of Mood Swings" Before departure, the weather forecast was all sunny ☀️ I even packed cute dresses for some great photos! But as soon as I landed, reality hit hard—Fuzhou in June is basically a "moody" character 😤 One moment the sun is blazing, the next moment dark clouds roll in and heavy raindrops start pouring 🌧️ Just as I struck a pose for photos, I got drenched like a drowned rat, sunscreen mixing with rain running down my face, feeling so embarrassed I wanted to disappear on the spot! Here’s the key point ⚠️ After the rain, Fuzhou turns into a "steam room"!! The air is stuffy and humid, clothes get wet then dry then wet again, that sticky feeling clinging to your skin—who can relate? 😭 I strongly suggest bringing both a sun-and-rain umbrella and quick-dry clothes, or you’ll quickly find out what "traveling in trouble" really means! 🚇 Transportation: Well-connected but with some "traps" Fuzhou’s subway and buses are super convenient 🚇 Most attractions are directly accessible! But!! Be careful when taking taxis!! Some drivers might take detours if they see you’re a tourist 🙄 It’s best to book rides through apps for transparent pricing and to avoid being ripped off! Also, if you want to try the "water bus," make sure to check the schedule in advance ⌚️ I missed it the first time and watched the boat leave right in front of me… Plus, during peak hours it’s super! crowded! Like sardines packed together, no chance for photos at all 😭 🏖️ Attractions: The "photo filter" vs. reality of popular spots ✨ Pingtan Island: The blue tears and jellyfish sea you see online are breathtaking 💦 But in reality… blue tears are rare and unpredictable!! I waited two nights and only saw a few tiny lights 😭 However, the island road during the day is still amazing! Rent an electric scooter 🛵, feel the sea breeze, see the windmill fields and ocean—every snap looks like a movie scene! ✨ Yantai Mountain: A must-visit for artsy folks!! Lots of old villas and vintage cafes ☕️ Perfect for a slow, relaxed stroll—but don’t expect too much, it’s basically an artsy commercial street. If you pick the right angles, you can still get great shots 📸 🍜 Food: The "sweet vs. salty" battle on your taste buds Help! Fuzhou cuisine is seriously "polarizing"! Sweet lovers will be thrilled, salty fans might be totally confused 🤯 ✅ Highly recommended must-tries: ✔️ Rouyan (meat dumplings)!! The skin is chewy, the filling tender, and the broth super fresh! One bowl leaves you wanting more! 🥟 ✔️ Taro paste! Smooth and sweet, one bite and you’re hooked—but it’s really! filling! Best to share with friends! 🍠 ✔️ Buddha Jumps Over the Wall! Though a bit pricey, it’s rich in ingredients and flavorful broth—you have to try it when you’re here! 🍲 ❌ Pitfalls to avoid: ✖️ Peanut soup! So sweet it hurts your throat, as a northerner I just can’t handle it… 🥜 ✖️ Laohua (a type of noodle soup)! Comes in many varieties, but the broth is too bland—you have to add your own seasonings! Otherwise, it tastes like plain water… 💰 Expenses: Wallet’s "slimming plan" I thought Fuzhou was affordable, but the bill gave me a shock!! Seafood stalls on Pingtan Island easily cost several hundred yuan per meal, and souvenirs at attractions are ridiculously expensive 😱 A small shell wind chime costs 88 yuan, postcards are 10 yuan each… I recommend shopping around and avoiding impulse buys!
