Silchester Roman Town Walls & Amphitheatre

Address: Silchester Roman Town, Wall Lane, Silchester, Reading RG7 2HP, UK We spent a wonderful morning at Silchester, where the kids enjoyed climbing the Roman walls and running around the amphitheatre. The walls were built in the 3rd century AD to protect the ancient town of Calleva Atrebatum. The amphitheatre, dating from the 1st century AD, once hosted gladiator fights and wild animal shows. Now it’s a peaceful place full of history and imagination. Highlight: Fresh air, plenty of space, and a real feel of ancient Roman life. Entrance Fee: Free Rating: 5/5
