STONEHENGE Stonehenge is perhaps the world’s most famous prehistoric monument. It was built in several stages: the first monument was an early henge monument, built about 5,000 years ago, and the unique stone circle was erected in the late Neolithic period. In the early Bronze Age many burial mounds were built. A totally random find in the countryside outside of Sapporo. This recreation of Stonehenge is certainly worth a visit, if you’ve already made the drive to see the Hill of Buddha. It's a 45min bus ride from the nearest train station and really quiet if you don't bump into any bus load of tourists. Worth a visit for something different from the city.
