Location: Hwangudan (Wongudan) in Jung-gu, Seoul Hwangudan, a foundation designated as a sanctuary of the Korean Empire, is currently located right next to the Chosun Hotel. It is a hidden gem that can be seen just by crossing the crosswalk from Seoul City Hall! It is said that Emperor Gojong ascended to the throne after performing a ritual to heaven and earth here, and since then, Hwangudan has become a sacred place to pray for the independence and national peace of the Korean Empire. It was great to be able to feel the historical significance along with the wonderful Hanok architecture👍 #Hanok
