Insadong should be a must-see attraction for tourists to South Korea when the Korean Wave first started. Insadong was a gathering place for aristocrats and scholars in the past. After the aristocrats gradually declined, they began to sell their antiques and calligraphy and paintings here. Over time, there are many calligraphy supply stores and antique shops here. In addition, it is close to Samcheong-dong and Bukchon, so if you want to experience the feeling of strolling in Korean culture, it is highly recommended. In the past, our Korean friends would invite us here to eat traditional Korean set meals and drink traditional tea. There are also many shops that make custom-made traditional Korean hanbok. I really like sitting in the teahouse of a Korean house and looking at the courtyard inside the house; sometimes I really have the illusion that I am in North Korea. Insadong has a more peaceful and tranquil feeling in the early morning.
