Ancient palaces that tell the story of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), which lasted from the late 14th century to the 20th century. One of them, this palace, was built in 1405 as a detached palace of Gyeongbokgung Palace. It was later burned down during the Imjin War (1592, Imjinwaeran in Korea) when Toyotomi Hideyoshi of Japan invaded the Korean Peninsula, and was rebuilt in 1615. Since it took a long time to rebuild Gyeongbokgung Palace, which was also burned down at the same time, it was used as the main palace for about 270 years.
