Fairmont Ambassador Seoul - Fairmont Room (Spectrum Breakfast)

I stayed in the most basic room, the Fairmont Room, which is located between the 11th and 15th floors. Since it was a weekday stay, my room on the 15th floor faced the former MBC construction site. From the bed, you can see the 63 Building, but the construction noise and the view of the construction site were so prominent that I ended up keeping the curtains closed. The staff were friendly, but their service felt like a typical business-style approach lacking genuine warmth. The hotel itself might feel grand in a different location, but surrounded by high-rise buildings, it seemed relatively small. Although the view was disappointing, the room had an interesting layout. The sliding doors allowed you to create an open-plan structure connecting the bathroom or block off the entrance area. However, closing the door for a shower exposes the toilet, which could lead to awkward situations for couples or friends sharing the room. Despite this, the unique design left a positive impression. If you zoom in, you can catch a glimpse of the Han River, and by leaning close to the window, you can also spot Namsan Seoul Tower. The hotel is conveniently connected via underground pathways to The Hyundai Seoul, Conrad Seoul, and IFC Mall, making it an ideal choice for a staycation even on rainy days. The highlight of the hotel is its breakfast. While some prioritize views like ocean, river, mountain, or city, I believe the joy of waking up to a well-prepared breakfast is the true essence of a hotel stay. The happiness brought by breakfast during travel is indescribable. Unlike Japan, where hotel breakfast prices are more reasonable, Korean hotels tend to have exorbitantly high breakfast costs, making it difficult to always include breakfast. However, I occasionally indulge in places worth trying. The Spectrum breakfast here is famous for serving Peking duck. It’s not self-serve; you can request a slice, and they’ll serve it to you. The breakfast also includes lobster and whole-grilled LA galbi, which is highly satisfying for meat lovers, comparable to the offerings at Shilla Hotel. As expected, the omelet was not tasty. I enjoyed the abalone porridge, though the beef radish soup was a bit bland. The grilled mackerel was delicious. Due to work commitments, I skipped the bakery and dessert tea time, leaving with a slight sense of regret. Thank you.
