Alor Setar – Kuala Lumpur

Review of traveling to Alor Setar – Kuala Lumpur alone for 3 days and 2 nights Day 1: Travel by train • Start the day with a 07:20 train from Hat Yai to Padang Besar. Ticket price 50 baht. The train departs on time. • Pass through immigration Received the stamp • Bought a ticket from Padang Besar to Alor Setar for RM5.70, paid with YouTrip card (cash not accepted) • Arrived in Alor Setar, called Grab to continue the trip • Two-way plan: • Plan A went straight to the airport • Plan B stopped by Aman mall and chilled at Sulb Café • Chose Plan B because I happened to meet a Thai travel companion, split the Grab fare, each person paid RM1.50 • Cost of this meal was around RM27.40 • Called Grab from the café to the airport at 1:30 PM Accommodation in KL • Stayed at Kingston Hotel 12 @ Jalan Raja Laut, KL • (Deposit RM100) • The room was as advertised, with a view of the KLCC Twin Towers ⸻ Day 2: Visited KL, completed 6 check-in points • Started the trip at 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM • Suitable for women traveling alone, safe travel Focus on taking chill photos • Menara Petronas Twin Towers (looked from afar, didn't go in because it was hot) • River of Life • Pavilion Bukit Bintang (had lunch and walked around) • Masjid Putra Jaya (beautiful pink mosque but too far away so didn't go) • Sultan Abdul Samad (building under renovation) • Dataran Merdeka (beautiful photo spot, lots of people) • Saloma Link (cool photo bridge) ⸻ Last day: Return trip • Called a Grab car from the accommodation to KL Terminal 2 Airport, fare 82 ringgit including expressway fee • Stopped by Aman Mall at Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, had something to eat, fare 8.24 ringgit • Called a Grab car to KTM Anak Bukit to go to Padang Besar checkpoint, fare 9.27 ringgit (had internet problem It's a bit hard to find a car) • Bought a return train ticket from Padang Besar to Hat Yai for 5.20 ringgit (a kind person helped buy it at the machine) • Arrived at Padang Besar border at around 16:00, went through immigration quickly • The train left at 17:00, arrived in Hat Yai at 17:45, right on time ⸻ Summary • Very convenient and punctual travel • Use the YouTrip card to help pay for travel conveniently • Women traveling alone are safe • Recommend leaving extra time to call a Grab car in case you encounter internet problems • This trip focuses on taking pictures and walking leisurely, not rushing #traveling to Kuala Lumpur
