Longhua Temple, Shanghai

#ShanghaiTravel I had the opportunity to pay homage at Longhua Temple, or in Chinese 龙华寺 (Lónghuá Sì), which is the largest and oldest Buddhist temple in Shanghai. The atmosphere here is clearly different from the hustle and bustle of the big city. When I walked into the temple grounds, it was like entering another world that was quiet and filled with the faint scent of incense. 🍃 One of the places that impressed me the most was paying homage to the Thousand-Handed Guanyin, or the Bodhisattva Guanyin with many arms, which is like reaching out to help people from all suffering. 🙏 The delicacy of the Guanyin, as well as the tranquility in the temple, made us sit still for a long time as if we were truly resting. In addition to the Guanyin, the temple also has the main hall, a tall octagonal pagoda, and Buddha statues in various postures that are beautifully in the Mahayana Buddhist art style. At the temple, there are chanting sessions. We can hear the bells and chants faintly. We feel a deep spiritual energy that we can't describe. Tips for those who want to visit • The entrance fee is not expensive, around 10 yuan (latest update) • Take the subway to Longhua or Longhua Temple station, very convenient. • If you come in the morning, the atmosphere will be quiet and there will be fewer tourists. Longhua Temple is not only a religious site, but also a center of the local people's hearts.
