Stay Report: The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong 🏘️ Room Type/Layout: Stayed in the Oriental Pearl River View Suite on the 46th floor (Room 4623). The suite consists of a living room, bedroom, and bathroom with a well-planned layout and efficient space utilization! The room offers a stunning city view centered around the Oriental Pearl Tower, which appears so close it feels within reach. 🛌 Amenities/Facilities: Opened in 2010, the hotel's room design shows its maturity, but meticulous maintenance is evident in every detail. 🧹 Soundproofing/Cleanliness: Excellent soundproofing and impeccable cleanliness ensure a comfortable and worry-free stay. The public areas offer spectacular views - the gym overlooks the Oriental Pearl Tower and Lujiazui's "Three Giants", while the breakfast restaurant provides panoramic views of all iconic landmarks. Even standard rooms without upgrades are perfectly satisfactory. The hotel maintains consistently outstanding service. The executive lounge offers decent quality - worth experiencing if your room includes lounge access, but not necessarily worth purchasing separately. For lunch, we visited the highly anticipated Jin Xuan Chinese Restaurant (as Cantonese, we continued our exploration of Cantonese cuisine in Shanghai). We tried several dishes from their spring-summer menu, where the plating alone exuded spring vibes. The Anji Bamboo Shoots with Fresh Abalone featured bamboo shoots that outshone the abalone with their lingering sweetness; the 5J Ham with Fava Beans and River Shrimp had good flavor combinations (though the fried fava beans tasted better alone); the Dried Fish with Spring Vegetables and Pork Ribs Casserole comes with our highest recommendation! This dish perfectly captures authentic Cantonese flavors - the dried fish elevates the marinated ribs' umami, complemented by spring vegetables. Honestly, we drank every last drop of the broth! The meal concluded perfectly with their well-balanced Mango Pomelo Sago dessert. The restaurant's attentive service deserves special praise! 💗 Additional Tips: 1. Both the hotel and Jin Xuan Restaurant offer thoughtful service, especially Molly at the front desk whose professional yet warm service was particularly comforting. 2. While the room design shows its age, the Oriental Pearl Tower view is truly breathtaking. 3. Jin Xuan's Dried Fish with Spring Vegetables and Pork Ribs Casserole offers authentic Cantonese flavors - a delightful surprise to find such genuine Cantonese cuisine in Shanghai, absolutely worth trying. Summary: The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong stands as the best all-around hotel in Pudong, offering views of the Oriental Pearl Tower, Lujiazui's "Three Giants", and the Bund. It surpasses J Hotel and Park Hyatt in comfort, and outshines Mandarin Oriental and InterContinental Shanghai Pudong in dining quality. With outstanding performance across all aspects, it's one of the most recommendable hotels in the entire Pudong New Area.
