Shimabara Toshogu Shrine "Reikyu Shrine"

#DomesticTravelRecord During my trip to Nagasaki, I visited the tourist spot "Reikyu Shrine". The origins of "Reikyu Shrine" date back to 1637, when the Takachika family, who ruled Shimabara, enshrined Toshogu Shrine to soothe the hearts of the people in the domain. The seven generations of the Matsudaira family, who became the lords of Shimabara after the Takachika family, enshrined the three Munakata goddesses and the Inari deity together to form Reikyu Shrine. The deities enshrined include Tosho Daigongen (Tokugawa Ieyasu) and the Matsudaira clan, the lords of Shimabara. The main hall is hung with a curtain bearing the crest of the three-leaf hollyhock. In front of the main hall is a torii gate that gives a sense of the stone construction of the past. It was a wonderful shrine with a sense of history. It's worth a visit!
